The term “Attar” comes from the Persian word which means to smell sweet. It contains no alcoholic property or chemicals and is the purest perfume oil you can get. Often, it is also one of the most volatile oils which is very pure and smooth, and has a deep and strong odor.

A balanced combination of an aroma of leaves with the soft sweet smell of flowers makes the odor of attars what it is. The predominating first note for living flowers is a bit lighter and sweeter, however, in attar the two aromas actually coexists in a balanced form. It takes nearly 25 days for the distillation process to make a pure and smooth attar, and it is very costly. This is why it is often purchased in small bottles.
