My son grew up on a farm but moved to the “big city” after college graduation. He wanted to come back and work the farm with his dad, but we didn’t encourage that career path. It is difficult making a living from farming when times are good and almost impossible during tough times. So he put his degree in marketing to work at an advertising agency, married a lovely girl, and started a family. But he never forgot his country roots and told his children stories about growing up on the farm. His office is decorated with John Deere collectibles and his little boy loves tractors. For Christmas, Grandpa and I are giving him a wooden John Deere rocking tractor that I found on a website that sells Children’s Bedroom Furniture. I can’t wait to see the look on his face, and his Daddy’s, when he unwraps it on Christmas morning!
