The health discipline devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of any problem of the foot, ankle and lower leg is the Podiatry. Chiropody and chiropodist is still used in some countries, such as the UK and some parts of Canada though some countries in our planet is still using the term podiatry or podiatrists. It is said that in the USA, podiatrists are more medically qualified than in other countries. While In the UK and Australia, podiatrists can get surgical qualification after initially qualifying as a podiatrist, whereas in the USA, surgery is part of the basic qualification. The scope of practice, such as the extent of surgical privileges and access to prescription drugs does vary from country to country. The educational requirements to get licensed also are unpredictable.
